Pre filter treatment systems are used to treat water sources that contain a lot of debris, leaf, sands, sediment or residual from roof or storage tanks. Generally they are installed prior to any UV component to ensure the correct water turbidity passes through the chamber of your UV filtration system.

Pre filtration can greatly help in areas where old pipes are installed and the water colour is poor. This can indicate rust in the mains pipes or bacteria build up. Whilst pre filtration is important it does not remove the need to UV the water. The only way to effectively sterilise water is by the use of chemicals such as chlorine or by exposing the water to the correct dose of UV radiation.
