Septic UV Filtration Grey Water

Most councils are not approving building construction unless the septic discharge water has an E.coli count that is less than 200. Though most advanced secondary treatment systems eliminate solids to a count of 20/30 and even lower for BOD and TSS, they do not reduce the E.coli count that can be in the millions.
Since suspended water solids shield some E.coli, the treatment or disc filtration should reduce BOD and TSS to count of less than 10 in order for UV radiation to be effective. In such a case, a pleated paper cartridge filter prevents constant fouling of the quartz sleeve when utilized prior to UV chamber. The quartz sleeve should be inspected regularly ensure it is clean.
Our septic discharge UV system is designed to ensure that UV system power is turned on as soon as the septic tank’s high level float switch is activated. A 2 minutes delay is applied to create time for the UV lamp to heat up after which power is supplied to the irrigation pump. Power is cut once the low level switch is triggered.
