What the filters remove

Tuesday, June 9, 2015 9:28:29 AM Pacific/Auckland

The filter cartridges we use are industry standard. They are designed to meet NSF42, a USA water quality standard. The cartridges need to: 1. filter out particles bigger than 5 micron (so that the living nasties cannot hide as they travel down the UV chamber). 2. remove particles that make the water too murky (so that the UV light can penetrate and sterilize the reproductive organs). Apart from these critical functions, people want their system to do more...Read More

Yes Chlorine NOT Flouride For all practical purposes, flouride cannot be removed by a whole of house system. The level of micron filtration severely restricts the volume of water able to be processed. However chlorine is easily removed by the carbon filters. A single 10" carbon will remove a substantial %; two carbons will reduce chlorine to an undetectable level. Chlorine accumulates in the Pineal gland (in your head). Apparently not good.Read More

Choosing the right system

Monday, June 8, 2015 4:45:59 PM Pacific/Auckland

Choosing the right system is easy:

  1. Roof/Tank Water - you need a UV Filtration System ( at least 2 but preferably 3 filters)
  2. River/Bore Water - first you install a UV system then monitor filter life and sleeve clarrity to determine what pre treatment wll work best for your water source
  3. City Water - you can use 3 or 4 filters to take out the chlorine
  4. Grey Water - install a UV system with 1 or more filters wired to start the pump after a 2 minute delay
  5. Pool Water - install a UV Chamber (filtration is via the existing pool filters) to reduce chlorine consumption

The next decision is sizing the UV lamp and filters.:
